MURRELLS INLET – St. James scored three unanswered runs to beat Georgetown 4-3 and hand the Bulldogs their first loss in region play.
The Sharks trailed 3-1 before putting together a rally. They tied the game 3-3 on bases-loaded walk in the fifth, and took the lead on a wild pitch later in the inning.
Noel Cassidy drove in two for the Sharks. Kelsi Bachmann went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Shelby Spaziani hit a solo home run.
Georgetown fell behind 1-0 in the first but scored three unanswered over the next two innings to take a 3-1 lead. Meredith Venters drove in two. Paigelyn Adams went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Krista Wendel had two hits.
Georgetown is 7-1 in Region 8-3A. The Bulldogs can clinch the region title with a win over North Myrtle Beach Thursday. St. James is 7-2 in region play,but is not mathematically alive for the title.
