Gray skies welcomed athletes to the Darlington High School track Wednesday for the 2015 Special Olympics games.
Athletes and volunteers set up for a day of games and races along with friendship and sharing.
Kara Harmon, Director of Program Services for the South Carolina Special Olympics, said the participants trained the past eight weeks to compete in the games.
Special Olympics South Carolina holds year-round competitions for more than 22,000 children and adults.
