LEXINGTON, SC – State Superintendent of Education Molly M. Spearman announced that Sabrina Williams, a teacher at R. H. Fulmer Middle School in Lexington School District Two, is a finalist for the South Carolina Teacher of the Year award.

“Sabrina’s passion for education and students is evident being in her classroom,” said Spearman. “She is an outstanding educator, well-respected in her community and very deserving of this award,” said Spearman.

Sabrina Williams is a 6th-8th grade Social Studies and Humanities teacher at R.H. Fulmer Middle School in Lexington County School District Two. She developed a love for teaching after helping her young sister overcome academic challenges in school. Williams believes a passion for making a difference and care for students is the foundation of being an effective teacher. She has received numerous awards, including the Michelin Golden Apple Teaching Award in 2011.

The state’s winner receives $25,000 and gets to drive a brand new BMW for one year while advocating for teachers across South Carolina.
