LUMBERTON, NC (WBTW) – Southeastern Regional Medical Center is still open, but is beginning to evacuate critical needs patients.
A press release from PR coordinator Amanda Crabtree says they have had excessive exhaust from a diesel emergency power generator located outside the facility but have not experienced a fire.
“We are currently evacuating critical needs patients out of the hospital but we feel confident that we can care for all patients who remain,” Crabtree said.
The emergency department is on diversion. The hospital is restricting visitors to patients in the main hospital and are limiting emergency room patients to one visitor per patient.
Officials ask that calls into the medical center be limited as phone lines are at maximum capacity.
