FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW) – Florence County is set to close the last shelter at South Florence High School.

Those staying at the Wilson High School shelter were moved to the South Florence High School shelter Tuesday night. The evacuees are now facing another obstacle.

Disaster manager, Lou Palm confirmed, The South Florence High School shelter will close Thursday Morning at 8am. Fifty- five people are still at the shelter, many of them have no place to go.

Jody Barns, an evacuee staying at South Florence said, “We’ve got families in here that have lost everything. To have nothing to go back to… God bless them.”

“It’s been a real humbling experience. I’ve never been homeless before but I am now,” Barns adds.

The American Red Cross volunteers are working with evacuees to help them find a place to stay in the area and transportation to their homes.
