CONWAY, SC (WBTW) – Some Conway area schools may finally get some much needed repairs, but that money could cost your student its IPad.

The top discussion Monday night was about two different things – IPads and funding, and board members spent more than an hour making a decision.

Ultimately, they voted six to five to cut down on the number of IPads in order to use that money for repairs in other schools.

Now students in 3rd and 4th grade will have to share an IPad with another student.

That’ll save money the district will now put towards repairing Conway schools like Whitemore Park, a school we told you needed repairs back in April.

This is money school board member Janet Graham has been fighting for, for months now, but she says it still won’t be enough.

Although several board members say they“Either way I look at it, we won because Conway got a little bit of money to help us, but we have a real big need. We probably have a two to three hundred million dollar need and that 700 to 1.4 million, although it’s going to help, it’s not going to get us where we need to be,” said Graham.

‘d like all students to have their own IPads, board chairman Joe DeFeo says there’s no research to show IPads actually help students in Horry County Schools.
