SoCon holding off on NC decision

SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Thursday afternoon the Southern Conference presidents and chancellors discussed the league’s championships scheduled to be held in North Carolina during the 2016-17 academic year.  The league’s council of presidents requested additional information from the league office and will reconvene in the near future to continue discussions.

“We had an open discussion among the presidents and chancellors,” said Southern Conference Commissioner John Iamarino.  “This is a complicated issue that the group decided requires more time and further study.”

The Southern Conference is currently scheduled to play its men’s soccer championship in Greensboro in November, its men’s and women’s basketball championshps in Asheville in March, and its men’s golf championship at Pinehurst in April.
