MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Lieutenant Joey Crosby confirms Myrtle Beach Police are investigating, what he calls, an apparent homicide that happened Saturday morning.

He says it happened on Seaboard Street at the Myrtle Beach Home Depot just before 5 a.m.  He says police were called to the scene in reference to a vehicle that was crashed into a median in the parking lot.  Crosby says once officers investigated more they found the car’s occupant was dead from an apparent shooting.

The Horry County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Berry Selmon, 50, from Myrtle Beach.

As of 9:00 p.m. Saturday, Lt. Crosby says two arrests have been made in connection to the incident.

He said Penny Hubbard and Keith Sheldon Levan were arrested in connection with the crime.  Hubbard is charged with accessory before the act of a felony.  Levan is charged with murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.

According to an arrest warrant, police found text messages in the Selmon’s phone when they discovered him dead in his car.  It said the text message numbers lead to information on the suspects.  The warrant says Levan and Hubbard came to the Myrtle Beach Police Department and confessed to the crime.

According to the warrant, Levan said he encountered Selmon after finding social media messages from Selmon to Hubbard.  Levan told police, according to the warrant, he took a rifle and shot at Selmon’s car during an altercation.  The warrant says Levan then tried to hide the weapon.
