SOCASTEE (WBTW) – Socastee High School named Derrick Hilton the new head coach of the boys basketball team on Tuesday.
Hilton is familiar with the Braves, as he used to play basketball for Socastee when he was a student there. Hilton played under Dan D’Antoni and went to the state championship game in 1998.
Hilton is a graduate of Coker College. He has previous coaching experience at St. James and Loris. Over the past nine years, he served as an assistant coach at Socastee.
Hilton says he is looking forward to what next season holds for his new team.
“Play hard and play together,” Hilton said. “That’s our goal for next year.”
