CONWAY (WBTW) – U.S. News & World Report named Socastee High School as one of South Carolina’s best high schools in a recent article.

Socastee ranked number eight in the state, according to the rankings.

The top five schools in the ranking include:

1) Academic Magnet High School (Charleston)

2) Governor’s School for Arts and Humanities (Greenville)

3) Charleston County School of the Arts (North Charleston)

4) Eastside High School (Taylors)

5) Nation Ford High School (Fort Mill)

The entry about Socastee reported the Advanced Placement participation rate at Socastee was 43%.  It ranks #1,302 nationwide.

Also in the rankings, Aynor High School was #16 statewide, and Green Sea-Floyds and Loris High Schools received recognition.

The rankings take into consideration things like: college readiness, math and English proficiency rates, and student-to-teacher ratios.
