CONWAY (WBTW) — Socastee High School will host a blood drive and joint event with Be The Match this week to help identify blood marrow donors by offering sign-ups for a nationwide marrow registry.
The event is hosted by the student group HOSA, which is for students interested in the health profession.
It is from 9:00 a.m to 3:00 p.m. in the school’s auxiliary gym.
To see if you are a blood marrow donor match is simple, according to the organization. It requires a cotton swab of the mouth and some paperwork. Patients who are willing to donate to potential matches (with patients who are suffering from a list of critical illnesses) have to be between 18 and 44 years old and in generally good health.
