FLORENCE, SC (WBTW) -Smithfield Foods donated 25,000 pounds of meat to a local food bank this morning.

The Harvest Hope Food Bank serves meals to more than 38,000 people every week and serves a  20-county area.

” We are almost a month away from when Hurricane Matthew struck so that is a long time to be concerned about not only where their going to live but to not have food as well so this is joyful it is bringing hope,” Denise Holland, CEO Harvest Hope Food Bank said.

This isn’t the first time Smithfield has made a big donation to Harvest Hope. In 2014 they partnered with W. Lee Flowers Incorporated to donate 40,000 pounds of hot dogs.
