MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – One man was injured after Horry County Police officers responded to a call at Myrtle Beach State Park Friday afternoon.

According to Lt. Raul Denis with Horry County Police, officers responded to a call of a suspicious person at Myrtle Beach State Park Friday afternoon. The person was sitting in a vehicle, according to Lt. Denis, when an officer approached the car and asked the man to get out.

The man refused to listen to the officer and “acted in a way” that caused the officer to fire his gun at the man, confirms Lt. Denis. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division is investigating the case. Lt. Denis could not confirm if the man pulled any type of weapon on the officer, but stated it “is under investigation.”

The man has been taken to the hospital with injuries, although Lt. Denis was unsure how severe the injuries are at this time.
