LATTA, S.C. (WBTW) – An employee for the Town of Latta claims her boss sexually harassed her and made racially charged comments.
News13 will not disclose the accusers name because he hasn’t been charged with anything.
An incident report said the alleged victim first tried to file a report with the Latta Police Chief Crystal Moore.
The report said Moore felt there was a conflict of interest, so she turned the case over to the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s office asked the South Carolina Department of Law Enforcement (SLED) to get involved with the investigation.
Town leaders are refusing to talk about the harassment allegations.
Latta Mayor Earl Bullard said Latta has a ‘No Tolerance’ policy for sexual harassment. Bullard would not comment on how or if the Town is enforcing the sexual harassment policy.
The alleged victim told Sheriff Deputies, the Judge and Town Administrator were first told about the allegations in July.
When the Town Administrator was notified, he agreed to move the boss to another job but failed to do so said the victim.
We reached out to the Town Administrator, who said because the Town of Latta did not request the SLED investigation, he has no comment.
News13 also reached out to Crystal Moore to see if she could explain if this case is related to her recent suspension. She directed me to her lawyer who has not responded to our calls.
SLED has not released any information about the case. Count on News13 to follow this story as it continues to develop.
