A sixth teenager has been arrested in connection with an assault in Georgetown County that was caught on video.
Blake Allen Finley, 18, of Andrews, was charged on Thursday in connection with an assault that took place on Indian Hut Road on Tuesday, according to a press release from the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office. Finley is charged with affray “for his role in the events that came to light after a video of an assault was circulated on social media.”
Affray is “consensual fighting in a public place to the terror of the populace, according to the state’s criminal code,” the release says.
Five other teens were arrested in connection with the case on Wednesday:
- Anthony Robert Holmes, 18
- David Dequan Rutledge Jr., 17
- Kenneth Daniel Newton, 17
- Alquavion Melvin Snow, 17
- Gunnar Travis Gatlin, 17
The release also says second charges of assault by mob were filed for three of the teens on Thursday: Rutledge, Jr., Newton, and Gatlin. All three remain in custody. Holmes and Snow are charged with one count of assault by mob and were released on bond on Thursday morning.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are expected. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at (843) 546-5102.
The mother of Trace Judy, who was injured in the assault, spoke with WBTW News13 on Wednesday.
“I just can’t get that image out of my head,” said Trace’s mother Gwynne Gilmer. “I keep seeing my son, he’s my baby, laying on the ground, getting his face and head stomped in.”
Gilmer says he was standing up for a friend, who was supposed to fight one other teen.
“My son and the other boy are friends with his ex-girlfriend,” Gilmer said. “That’s what I’ve been told. So it’s really silly there was a fight to begin with.”
