Horry County Police officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of a McDonald’s in Myrtle Beach on Tuesday.

A police report says officers responded to the McDonald’s on Highway 707 around 8 p.m. for a report of a man with a gun who had fired shots at a Silver Nissan Altima in the parking lot. Responding officers were unable to locate a suspect, but found 9mm shell casings in the area of the drive through.

According to the report, an employee of the restaurant told police he heard “a few pops” while in his office and had observed a “black vehicle and a Tahoe leaving the parking lot at a high rate of speed.”

Another witness told police he was in the drive-through when he saw males approach the Altima and he thought the males and those in the vehicle knew each other until he heard an argument. This witness also said he was looking in his rear view mirror when he heard shots being fired. The witness then moved to another area of the parking lot, where he says the Altima drove past him, turning left onto Hwy 707.

Upon viewing security camera footage, officers saw a Gold Tahoe pull into the rear of the parking lot, followed by the Altima. The Altima was approached by three white males and one black male. The Altima backed up and the males surrounded the vehicle again. The Altima then left the parking lot, speeding and leaving tire tread. At least one spent shell casing was located in the area where the Altima was parked.

Officers were able to find the Gold Tahoe, with three occupants, according to the report. All three told police they “were driving down South on Socastee Boulevard, when the Altima came up from behind them.” They also told police the driver of the Altima then drove up next to the Tahoe and rolled the window down, which resulted in an argument between both drivers.

The report also says the three occupants of the Tahoe told police they then noticed a black Honda civic traveling with the Altima, but continued driving south on Hwy 707 until the Altima “cut them off.” They also say all three vehicles then passed Enterprise Road, where the Tahoe turned around and began heading back towards Enterprise Road. Shortly after, they say they entered the parking lot of the McDonald’s where several friends were waiting. They say they then approached the Altima and engaged two people in the car. After an argument, the Altima backed up and shots were fired, the occupants say. The Altima then fled the scene.

The driver of the Altima told police he was driving on Hwy 707 when the Chevy Tahoe pulled out in from of him and began “break checking and swerving.” The driver also says the vehicle then turned down Enterprise Road and back onto Hwy 707. While following the Tahoe, the second occupant of the Altima called police and reported the incident. The driver of the Altima says he then followed the Tahoe into the parking lot McDonald’s, where there were about five or six people standing. The driver and the passenger of the Tahoe got out of the car and approached the Altima, followed by the other people, according to the Altima driver. The driver of the Altima then attempted to drive away, but was “blocked in.” The driver says shots were then fired at him, with one shot striking the right rear window and a second shot striking the the right rear trunk.

No information on suspects or arrests has been released.
