Due to the recent winter weather and the number of continued power outages, two shelters are opening in the Pee Dee on Tuesday night.
In the Hartsville area, an emergency shelter will open at 6 pm Tuesday night.
The Hartsville shelter will be located in the T. B. Thomas Gym at 701 West Washington Street . This overnight shelter will remain open until 9 am Wednesday morning.
Limited cots and blankets will be available.
Another shelter will also be open starting at 5 pm in Mullins, the Red Cross said. The shelter in Mullins will be at Mullins City Fire Department, 161 Northeast Front Street.
The Red Cross encourages anyone coming to a shelter to bring the following items for each member of their family: prescription and emergency medications, extra clothing, pillows, blankets, hygiene supplies, important documents and other comfort items.
It’s also important not to forget special items for children, such as diapers, formula and toys, and other items for family members who have unique needs.
You may bring personal hygiene items as needed. Do not bring alcoholic beverages, weapons and pets to the shelter. Smoking will not be permitted inside the shelter. The shelter will be manned by Red Cross.
