The sentencing date for former Williamsburg County Sheriff Michael Johnson has been moved to March 25, 2015 according to Prosecutor Winston Holliday.

The initial sentencing date was scheduled for March 11.

No word on why the date was changed.

Prosecutors say Johnson created false police reports so customers of a co-defendants credit repair business could claim their overdue bills were caused by people who stole their identity.

Authorities say Johnson helped create more than 100 fake reports over three years in the county of 34,000 people.

Johnson faces up to 20 years in prison.

Investigators say Johnson’s co-defendant was Lester Woods.

Johnson was suspended from office after his indictment in February 2014.

He is one of eight South Carolina sheriffs in the past four years to face legal problems.
