Officials with Southeastern Health, Cape Fear Construction, and Skinner, Lamb and Highsmith Architects broke ground on Thursday, March 12, for a new 10,000-square-foot wing at WoodHaven Nursing, Alzheimer’s and Rehabilitation Center on Pine Run Drive in Lumberton for the short-term rehabilitation program. In addition to building a new wing, SeHealth plans to renovate the existing 8,000-square-foot short-term rehab section in order to offer private rooms with private baths. The new addition and the renovated section of the facility, costing a project total of $3.2 million, will also house a physical and occupational therapy gym, day room, and entertainment theatre. Short-term rehab rooms will also be equipped with Smart TVs for patient convenience. The facility will be designed with colors and themes to encourage patients to begin to be mobile as soon as possible following surgery while encouraging visits from family and friends to support the healing process.
