MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW)- Horry County Police investigate an early morning bar shooting at Fat Boiz Bar and Grill on Fred Nash Road off the Highway 17 Bypass.
Sunday mornings incident was the fourth shooting at Fat Boiz in the last three months.
Police say the argument turned into a physical altercation inside the business and the people involved had to be removed.
Once they were outside there were shots fired between security and the individuals that ended with two people in the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
One of those shot handles security for Fat Boiz, he says a bullet knocked off his hat, then went through his dreadlocks before ricocheting off the wall and hitting his hand.
“Thats one of those incidents where God was with me and my hair saved my life literally,” he said.
The man, who asked not to be named said, “this was over a pool game,” adding, “you never know what can happen in the next five minutes and that’s how quick it is.”
“A lot of people ask me, ‘why do you do jobs like this or why are you in this job field?’ its just in my nature to help people,” but he says the violence he sees in the area is making that job more difficult.
“Innocent people are getting injured everyday, every night out here. That’s why we’re here but that makes our job even more dangerous.”
The shooting is still under investigation by Horry County Police. The owner says Fat Boiz will remain closed until police catch the shooter.
Security cameras were installed after a shooting incident on June 4, the owners say they have handed over those tapes and are fully cooperating with police.
At this point in their investigation, police will not say if the shootings are related.
