MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Now that May is here, seasonal rules are in effect again for dogs and bicycles on the beach and boardwalk.

From May 1 through Labor Day, both pets and bicycles are allowed on the beach only before 10:00 a.m. and after 5:00 p.m.

City leaders say at all times, pets must be on a leash and owners must pick up and properly dispose of any droppings. Failure to follow the law is a misdemeanor, subject to a fine of up to $500 and/or 30 days upon conviction.

On the boardwalk, pets and bicycles are allowed only in the mornings, from 5:00 to 10:00 a.m., during the May-through-Labor-Day window. Pets still must be leashed and droppings properly removed.
