MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – Maurice Moultrie from the Red Lobster in Myrtle Beach joined News13 Now at 9 a.m. on Friday to talk about crabs and how to crack crab legs.
Watch the video to learn more about some varieties of crab known for their delicious leg meat.
Below are five tips from Red Lobster:
- CHOOSE – First, choose a favorite type of crab. Red Lobster’s currently offering three types of crab legs – King Crab, Snow Crab or wild-caught Alaska Bairdi Crab.
- PREPARE – Then, make sure you have all the right tools. You’ll need a crab cracker, cocktail fork and a bowl for the empty shells.
- SEPARATE – Now, separate each of the legs from the cluster.
- BEND – Next, loosen the meat of the leg by bending forward and backward at the middle.
- CRACK – Lastly, take one part of the leg, crack it in half and pull the shell off to slide the meat right out. For the claw, use your crab cracker to loosen up the shell, and pull out the meat with your cocktail fork!
