Community members gathered for a beach bash to support local veterans in need.
Scotty’s Beach Bar in Surfside Beach hosted their third annual Veterans Beach Bash on Sunday. THe celebration included live music, a fish fry, and a silent auction.
All proceeds of the beach bash will go to the Veterans Welcome Home and Recourse Center in Little River. The celebration is one of the organization’s biggest fundraisers of the year. Last year, the beach bash raised approximately $10,000.
“This is fabulous. This is our second biggest fundraiser of the year. We do the best we can. It’s our opportunity to give back to veterans in need,” said Ron Wilson, director of the Veterans Welcome Home and Resource Center.
The Resource Center provides shelter for veterans in need, as well as financial and job placement assistance.
