Scotland has had no trouble with its first two opponents this football season, but the Fighting Scots will face a challenge Friday night when Marlboro County visits Laurinburg in the Blitz Game of the Week.
The Scots (2-0) are No. 1 in Conan Gasque’s Blitz Rankings after outscoring their first two opponents 74-7. They’re No. 2 in Julia Morris’ Top 10. Marlboro County (1-1) dropped out of both polls after losing 14-0 to Cheraw in Week 1.
Both teams feature dynamic skill position players, none more talented than Scotland running back Zamir White. The junior is the No. 9 overall player and the top running back in the Class of 2018 according to ESPN. Marlboro County is led by running back Dylven Covington, who’s averaging 10.6 yards per carry through two games. He and the Bulldogs will aim to rebound after suffering the program’s first shutout since the first game of 2004.
Scotland has won five straight in the series including a 21-20 victory in Bennettsville last year.
