FLORENCE, S.C. (WBTW)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a crash that killed one person in Florence on Sunday morning.

Lance Corporal Hannah Wimberly with the SC Highway Patrol, says the one-vehicle crash happened around 10:45am on South Scurry Road near US Highway 378.

Troopers say the driver of a 1997 Ford Pickup Truck was traveling south on Scurry Road before going off the right side of the road. Troopers say the truck then over-corrected, struck a ditch and then overturned.

Trooper say the driver was ejected and died from injuries in the crash.

Coroner Keith von Lutcken identifies the victim as 60-year-old Elijah Miller from Lake City.

According to SCHP Miller was not wearing a seat-belt. Von Lutcken says he died at the scene.

The incident is under investigation by the SC Highway Patrol and Florence County Coroner’s Office.
