MARION, S.C. (WBTW)- The South Carolina Highway Patrol responded to a deadly accident that killed one person in Marion on Saturday night.
Lance Corporal Hannah Wimberly with the SC Highway Patrol, says it happened around 8:35pm on Chippenham Road and Grady Road.
Troopers say the driver of a 2004 Chevy Cavalier was traveling south on Chippenham Road when the vehicle ran off the road, struck a ditch and several trees before overturning.
Troopers say the passenger was ejected from the vehicle and died from injuries sustained in the accident.
Marion County Coroner, Jerry Richardson, identified the victim as 50-year-old Bobby Johnson Jr. of Marion.
Troopers say he was not wearing a seat-belt. The driver of the Cavalier was taken to an area hospital.
The SCHP is investigating the crash.
