SUMTER, SC (WBTW) -The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says a school resource officer had to intervene on Monday after two teachers got into a heated argument at a local middle school.

A release from Ken Bell with the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says the incident happened at  Chestnut Oaks Middle School.

Officials report that the incident began after there was a discussion about whether or not to hold a hall meeting, since the person normally in charge was not there.

The argument became heated between the two until the principal and a resource officer arrived.

Bell says one teacher was talking on her cell phone in an effort to calm down and appeared to be visibly upset.

After talking with both teachers, both were sent home by school officials.

Bell says no charges have been filed.
