Officials in North Myrtle Beach say a ‘police’ scam is making its rounds.
On a Facebook post, the City of North Myrtle Beach said someone is apparently posing as a North Myrtle Beach police detective and calling residents to advise them to pay money immediately or be arrested for a supposed crime.
Officials want residents to be aware that North Myrtle Beach police officers do not contact people by phone to threaten arrests or to demand money.
If you get a call like this, you’re encouraged to hang up immediately without saying anything.
