Anderson County Sheriff’s investigators released video of a robber who they say shot a gas station clerk in the head late Thursday night.
The woman was shot at the BP Station on Highway 153 just off Interstate 85 around 10:30 p.m. The woman survived, but is listed in critical condition at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
The woman suffered a gunshot wound to her face and was found shot of the floor of the business by a customer who then called 911.
Sheriff’s investigators say they viewed store security video of the incident and say the suspect bought some cigars from the clerk before demanding money from the register.
In the surveillance video, the man can be seen asking for items and the woman walks to retrieve them. The video released by deputies stops just as the man is about to pull a gun out of his pocket.
He then shot the woman, but left the store without taking any money.
The suspect deputies are trying to find is described a black man who was wearing a light-colored floppy fishing hat, dark pants, tennis shoes and a white T-shirt with designs on both the front and the back.
An ACSO spokesperson says the suspected robber had no connection to the victim.
Anyone with information in the case is asked to contact Investigator Matthew Voigt at (864) 260-4440 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC.
