A woman was shot after she robbed a South Carolina bank, took police on a chase to a Walmart and finally tried to run over a deputy on Wednesday, various media outlets reported.
The female bank robber — armed with a gun — hit the First Federal Bank on Robertson Blvd. in Walterboro around 3:20 pm, officials told the CBS affiliate in Charleston.
The woman sped off and a chase ensued, WCSC-TV reported.
Officials told WCIV-TV that the chase extended to a Walmart on Bells Highway near I-95.
As a Colleton County deputy tried to stop the woman’s car, she tried to run over him, Colleton County Sheriff Andy Strickland told WCIV.
The deputy responded by shooting at the woman, who was hit in the hand.
Police said the woman is currently being held at the jail being treated for non life threatening injuries.
SLED will investigate the officer involved shooting and Walterboro Police will investigate the bank robbery.
