Two people — including a mom — have been arrested in connection with the death of a 3-year-old boy in Greenwood.
The Greenwood Police Department was called to the hospital for a possible case of child abuse in late March.
Doctors told authorities that they found two fractures in the skull of Ja’Lierion Patterson.
Patterson was brought to an area hospital on April 2, according to WYFF-TV. Patterson died April 6.
The coroner’s office says the cause of death was non-accidental head injuries.
As a result of the investigation, Brandon Holmes, age 33, who lives with Watson, was charged with Homicide by Child Abuse.
Shaniqua Watson, the child’s 24-year-old mother, has been charged with Unlawful Conduct Towards a Child.
Watson told police that the boy fell from a bed and hit his head on the floor and a table, according to GWDToday.
Both were booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center.
