On Thursday Amber Bracci took questions for about an hour and a half and the prosecution took their last shot at convincing the jury. It was the final touches in proving Amber Bracci’s guilt or innocence on Homicide by Child Abuse charges. Prosecutor Don Sorensen wanted to put some doubt in the jury’s mind on her “perfect mother” status.

“As her child is clinging to life in his crib moaning and Squirming she is in the bedroom getting stoned.” This was before Amber’s defense picked apart the investigation even calling it irresponsible.

Thursday started with defense offering witnesses video painting a picture of a loving protective mother.

Then Amber Bracci herself took the stand. “I worshiped the ground he walked on he was everything to me.” Bracci said.

Amber also talked about the investigation and give her side on ex-boyfriend John Weaver and his and her drug use that morning in 2011 when prosecutors say Rowan was is in his Crib fighting for his life. “As you’ve heard a million times I did smoke marijuana it is something I’m not proud of. It’s something that I did, I did not know my son was in distress.” Bracci said.

Prosecutors said Amber showed a blatant disregard for human life when she allowed Rowan to remain, moaning and squirming in the crib following his injury. Amber maintains it was a big concern and she didn’t know he received the injuries. She said she was thinking his behavior was due to a bad dream.

When it later became known it was no accident she said on the stand she knew it was her boyfriend Weaver and she confronted him that evening on January 6th 2011. “He was sitting in the chair and I ran up to him and I put my hands around his shirt and I said you, I cursed at him and I said you did this. “

Amber and her defense says investigators didn’t do enough to try and prove it was Weaver acting alone, Bracci then recalled an incident during an interview with the Chief Investigator. “I remember Rick Carson getting in my face and saying you killed your son, you killed your son, screaming it at me. At that point I had enough and I stood up I got in his face and said you are not going to tell me I killed my son.”

John Weaver will be tried on a later date.

The jury was given the case Friday morning. Bracci is facing both Homicide by Child Abuse and Aiding and Abetting Homicide by Child Abuse. If convicted she could face 40-years to life in prison.
