Five women and 12 men have been charged as a result of a drug roundup operation in Cherokee County. The sheriff’s office says its narcotics unit conducted the operation.

Fourteen suspects were taken into custody with 37 warrants being served on Tuesday. Two of those warrants are for non-drug related offenses.

Three suspects are still wanted in the operation. Officers continue to search for them.

A news release states the unit had been working on this operation over the past several months conducting undercover buys and recording the transactions.

Authorities say most of the suspects are repeat offenders.

“It’s high time for some of these people to have a change of address and be sent straight to the South Carolina Department of Corrections,” the release states.” It has become very evident they have chosen to ignore previous sentences of the court and have chosen to continue to be a nuisance to society with the poison they continue to peddle on our streets.”

Officials hope the operation will slow the drug trade in the community and want to send a message to drug dealers and users.

The following suspects are still on the loose:

Luis Antonio Maldanado

Kelsey Noel Hall

Kelly Jane Reynolds
