The personal finance website WalletHub ranks South Carolina last in the country when it comes to elder abuse protections.
WalletHub ranked the states on, what it calls, “ten key metrics.”
They include share of complaints, money spent on elder-abuse prevention and elder-abuse laws.
South Carolina was at the bottom when it came to the number of complaints. Perhaps the state’s best showing is in the quality of nursing homes, but it still ranks 34th.
North Carolina ranks 16th overall.
The District of Columbia is first in the rankings. Nevada is second. Massachusetts is third.
