SPARTANBURG Co., S.C. (WSPA) — A Spartanburg County property where two women were found buried earlier this month caught fire.
Una Fire Department found the house at 137 Williams Street in flames early Tuesday morning.
Deputies previously said the bodies of 27-year-old Christin Renee Bunner of Spartanburg and Melissa Fairlee Rhymer, 40, of Mountville were found buried there earlier this year.
The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office arrested two men in connection with their deaths.
Jonathan Galligan, 39, and 41-year-old Christian Daniel Hurlburt are each charged with murder and accessory after the fact of a felony in the victims’ killings.
The coroner said the women’s bodies were buried near each other in 18-inch graves in the backyard of the Williams Street house.
Una Fire Department responded to the blaze at the house around 4:15 a.m. Tuesday.
No one was hurt in the fire.
Firefighters say arson investigators with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene “due to several indicators that the fire was intentionally set.”
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Galligan and Hurlburt remain in the Spartanburg County Detention Center.
