NORTH CHARLESTON, SC – A North Charleston Police Officer is out of a job after allegedly posing in an image on social media with the Confederate flag.

Police Chief Eddie Driggers issued a termination letter to officer Sgt. Shannon Dildine on Thursday, June 25.

We’re told authorities learned of an image on Facebook in which Dildine was wearing only a pair of boxer shorts emblazoned with the image of the Confederate flag.

In the termination letter, Chief Driggers says his that Dildine’s recent decisions have rendered him incapable of effectively serving as a North Charleston police officer. Driggers adds “[t]his significantly undermines your ability to improve trust and instill confident when working with our citizens” and “it will compromise any criminal cases involving minorities with which you might be associated…”.

Dildine has ten days to appeal the decision.
