SC man shoots, kills dad; tells deputies as they arrive, officials say

The Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office and Spartanburg County Coroner’s office conducted a joint investigation into a shooting that left one person dead in Spartanburg County.

Deputies say the incident happened on Eastway Drive in Spartanburg, early Sunday morning.

When deputies arrived to the scene they were approached by Osiris Hinton in the driveway, who told them “I killed my father. I killed my father,” according to the deputy’s report. 

After further investigation the deputies determined that Oshun Cyrus Hinton, the suspect’s father, was the victim in the shooting. Oshun Hinton suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head, reports say.

The elder Hinton, age 47, was a prominent attorney in the Rock Hill area.

Hinton was currently working as an attorney defending men in 2 different cases in which there was a fatal shooting, according to the Rock Hill Herald.

Osiris Hinton, age 23, is charged with possession of a weapon during a violent crime and murder.
