A man has been charged in connection with the disappearance of a South Carolina mom who has been missing for 2 weeks.
Deputies charged 30-year old Edward Primo Bonilla with Obstruction of Justice in the investigation into Ashley Pegram’s disappearance. In court Thursday morning Bonilla was held on a $400,000 surety bond.
Pegram, a 28-year old mom from Summerville was last seen by family on April 3rd. Deputies told WCSC-TV that foul play is “a definite possibility.”
There is also video surveillance of her just after midnight on April 4th at a Sunoco station on College Park Road. Ashley is seen getting out and back into Bonilla’s slate-blue Hyundai Sonata.
Ashley’s sister Brandy Chance first reported Ashley missing back on April 4th after she didn’t return home.
Before calling Deputies, Brandy Chance contacted Bonilla through texts she discovered on “Kik” where he went by the name of “Emoney Bon”.
Bonilla told that Ashley was too drunk and he couldn’t handle her so he stopped and “kicked her out of his car around midnight,” officials say.
Bonilla believed it was at Main Street in Berkeley County near the Piggly Wiggly.
Detectives talked with Bonilla where he gave them information about his meeting with Ashley. Deputies say during a follow-up on the first interview it’s alleged Bonilla gave false and misleading information.
Capt. Tony Phinney with the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office wouldn’t talk about specific details on what led them the make the arrest on Obstruction of Justice.
Brandy Chance said she believes something bad is wrong, through all the uncertainty she is sure that Ashley would have contacted the family.
“This is so not her — if she were OK, she would have called. That right there lets me know something happened.. something bad happened.”
Like millions of others 28-Year old Ashley Pegram, a mother of three, visited social media and dating sites often.
She was last seen by her mother Rama Chance April 3rd when she left for the date from her home on East Steele Drive. As the days pass, there is overwhelming worry.
“I don’t know what to think. I think a lot of things in my mind and they are not all good.”
Brandy Chance, Ashley’s sister who first called detectives said she and her sister are close.
Brandy said she was weary of Ashley’s time on various meeting and chat sites.
“It concerned me a lot.” she said, “I told her not to do it but she’s an adult.”
Ashley Pelgram is 28-year-old, 5’01 with brown hard and brown eyes. If you have any information you are asked to called the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office at 843-832-0300.
