SUMMERVILLE, S.C. (AP) – A Summerville man has been arrested after police say he impersonated a police officer in Berkley County.

Media outlets report that Zachery Sivils was arrested Monday after a Berkley County deputy saw him in an SUV with blue flashing lights behind another vehicle at a gas station parking lot.

An incident report says the deputy approached Sivils, who identified himself as an agent with the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division.

When Sivils left the parking lot, the deputy began to follow him. Sivils began to flee at a high rate of speed. The deputy was eventually able to pull Sivils over. Sivils again said he was a SLED agent, but then admitted he was a private security officer.

Sivils is charged with one count of impersonating a police officer. It wasn’t immediately clear if he has an attorney.
