MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW)- The man accused of attempted murder after biting off a woman’s nose in 2015 pleaded guilty of the lesser charge of Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature Monday. He was sentenced to 20 years in jail for two separate assault cases.
According to Horry County Court Documents, Christopher Campbell was sentenced to 15 years in jail, with credit for time served for the 2015 incident. He was sentenced to an additional five years of jail for Involuntary Manslaughter in connection to a 2013 incident in Georgetown County. Judge Thomas Russo ordered the sentences to run consecutively.
In February 2015, Campbell allegedly attacked a mom of two at the Sandy Monkey Bar and Grill, biting her nose, and trying to kill her.
Campbell and the woman he attacked had previously dated for seven months, but had broken up a few weeks before they ran into each other at a birthday party at the Murrells Inlet bar. Because the two were still business partners, the woman thought nothing of his offer to talk about an upcoming project in his van.
As soon as he locked her in his car, the mood changed and he began assaulting her.
“The victim in the assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature was in agreement with the negotiations and wanted the judge to accept them.” Assistant Solicitor Austin Thomas said, who prosecuted the case for the 15th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
