MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – A South Carolina judge will not amend his July 7 ruling to allow the paving of International Drive.
The SC Coastal Conservation League and the SC Wildlife Federation asked that judge Ralph Anderson reconsider his ruling allowing the paving of the controversial Horry County road.
Anderson released his reconsideration order Tuesday which says the court will not issue an amended final order but will clarify the ruling.
According to the document, culverts will be installed to improve the water quality of the reconnected wetlands.
In regard to environmentalist concerns about permanently changing a productive freshwater marsh, Anderson says Horry County Public Works was able to demonstrate that “no feasible alternative exists” and an “overriding public interest” in order to pave the road.
Officials have not yet set a date for the paving of International Drive.
