The Jasper County Coroner’s Office has identified the suspect as Jason Cribb, 36, of Ridgeland. His cause of death is believed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

RIDGELAND, S.C. (WSAV) – A deputy with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office was injured early Thursday morning when a suspect open fired on officers responding to a domestic dispute in Ridgeland, according to the Sheriff Chris Malphrus.
It happened in the 1800 block of Bees Creek Road near Graham Hall.
JCSO responded to the call at 5:30 a.m., to find a male suspect had shot a female inside the home. He then open fired on officers with a shotgun and rifle.
The Ridgeland Police Department and SWAT assisted in entering the home, where officers found the man had shot and killed himself.
The deputy and female victim inside the home were airlifted to Memorial for treatment.
We’re told the deputy underwent surgery earlier Thursday and is now recovering. No word on the condition of the other individual at this time.
