An Anderson County deputy and a chase suspect both crashed early Tuesday afternoon.
The sheriff’s office says the deputy spotted a suspected stolen Ford Excursion SUV and tried to pull over the driver on Horse Shoe Bend Road.
The driver of the SUV then tried to get away, starting a chase, authorities said.
During the pursuit, officials say the suspect forced the deputy’s vehicle off the road, causing it to crash.
The suspect then crashed into the porch of a home on Boston Street at Jackson Street.
The driver of the SUV was detained at the scene and he was put on a stretcher.
The SUV appeared to be totaled, but the deputy’s cruiser might be repaired.
Charges are pending against the suspect.
