INMAN, SC – A son has confessed to killing his parents in Inman say Spartanburg Co. deputies.

The victims are Henrietta Green Belcher, 60, and William Edward Belcher, 69, according to the coroner’s office.

Deputies say the responded to a welfare check around 12:55 a.m. Tuesday morning on Bentwood Dr.

They say the victims’ daughter-in-law called 911.

When they got there they were trying to find a way in.

That’s when they saw the son, Stephen Linwood Belcher, 39, coming out of a rear door, according to deputies.

Belcher told deputies both victims were dead in a room upstairs.

Deputies say both victims appeared to have been dead for an extended period of time.

Deputies say they were shot on Nov. 5.

Investigators say he confessed to killing both parents.

Belcher is charged with 2 counts of Murder and Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime.

Deputies are investigating a possible motive.

They both lived at the home.

An autopsy is being performed to determine cause of death, but both victims have gunshot wounds, according to the coroner’s office.

Belcher’s bond was denied in a hearing with the magistrate Tuesday evening.

The judge can’t set bond on anything that carries up to life in prison so it has to go before a circuit judge.
