EASLEY, SC – An 11-year-old boy had to be rescued after falling 30 feet into a well in Easley, Sunday evening.

Chief Scott Smith of the Crosswell Fire Department says the boy was able to find a ledge to stand on in the waist deep water at the bottom of the well on Sandalwood Drive.

Smith says the rescue lasted about an hour while a rescue worker went into the well to put a harness around the boy.

The boy suffered some scrapes and bruises and was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital for examination.

Easley Fire Department, Parker District Fire Department, Pickens Emergency Management, Pickens County EMS, and Pickens County Rescue assisted in the incident.
