MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WBTW) – Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes told News13 that Savannah’s Playground in Myrtle Beach was vandalized over the weekend.
Rhodes told News13 over the phone: “when we find them, there will be something done,” he adds “it was a pretty low down thing to do.”
Rhodes said the vandalism is a crime and when they find out who’s responsible, that person will prosecuted.
According to the Mayor, the vandalized sign said “**** u, Put back trees u ripped off. Tear down this eye sore.”
Savannah’s Playground will be a space featuring ADA-approved play equipment and structures designed to provide children of all abilities the opportunity for social interaction.
The Myrtle Beach City Government says “it will provide the safe haven that children with physical and mental disabilities need.”
Land for Savannah’s Playground has been donated by the City of Myrtle Beach. A non-profit corporation has been established to raise funding for construction and maintenance of Savannah’s Playground.
