MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WBTW) – More than 1,000 Santee Cooper customers in Myrtle Beach were without power Saturday night.

Officials with the company told News13 they originally thought the outage was caused after a vehicle hit a utility pole. After investigation, officials say the outage was actually caused by an equipment failure.

According to Santee Cooper’s website, 1,031 customers were affected.

The website says outages started around 7:30 p.m. near the Arcadian Shores Golf Club and Lakeshore Drive. The website reports an estimated restoration of 10:45pm.
