MARION, SC (WBTW) – The Marion Police Department says they have arrested the man responsible for killing a woman whose body was found in her home Sunday.
Marion Police Chief Dewayne Tennie says 27-year-old Kendrick Reaves, of Seller, is charged with murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm within city limits in connection with the death of Mary Magdeline Reddick. The murder happened late Saturday night or early Sunday morning at a home on Herb Levy Road in Marion, Tennie says.
Investigators say Reaves was an “acquaintance” of the victim, but didn’t note a motive for the killing.
Reaves is also a suspect in an attempted murder investigation being conducted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Captain Judith Barker says Reaves is the gunman who shot two people Sunday. Reaves reportedly got into an argument at a location on Bob Manning Road in Sellers, and fired multiple shots into the victims’ vehicle.
Deputies responded to Carolinas Hospital in Mullins on Sunday in reference to the two victims who were shot, and through the course of the investigation, charged Reaves with two counts of attempted murder, discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle and possession of a firearm during the commission of a violent crime.
Booking information from the Marion County Detention Center confirms Reaves was booked Sunday at 12 a.m. and is currently being held at the Marion County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
