South Carolina’s Superintendent of Education made a stop in the Pee Dee.
Molly Spearman spoke at the Florence Rotary Club’s meeting at Victor’s Restaurant in Florence.
She told the group it takes the entire community to make sure children are getting the education they need.
Spearman also visited Alfred Rush Academy and R.N. Beck Child Development Center this morning then went to Rotary.
Spearman was a music teacher for 18 years.
In 1993, Spearman was elected to the South Carolina House of Representatives.
She served four terms and was regarded as a champion for children’s issues.
She was appointed Deputy Superintendent of Education for Governmental Relations at the South Carolina Department of Education in 1998.
She worked closely with legislators, educators, and business leaders on policies to improve education in South Carolina.
For the past nine years, Spearman has led the South Carolina Association of School Administrators, a professional organization of over 3600 principals, superintendents, and school leaders in the state.
