LUMBERTON, S.C. (WBTW) – The Robeson County Sheriff’s Office has had over 30 reports of burglary since Hurricane Matthew.

Sheriff Kenneth Sealy said when the power went out many houses in the county were burglarized. Now about 50 deputies from the Sheriff’s Association in the state were sent to the County to help. Deputies and National Guardsmen are patrolling the areas with high crime activity.

Sheriff Sealy said, “It’s real sad that you have to leave your home then someone comes behind you and steals what you have. It really is. I’m really sure that our prosecutors and our district attorneys will prosecute them to the fullest.”

Sheriff Sealy also requests people in the county report price gouging in the county to local law enforcement.
